A mission to protect the environment: new Skelly & Couch project brochure

Award-winning building environmental engineering firm Skelly & Couch has published its latest, eclectic collection of high-quality, sustainable projects.

The updated brochure* comes only two years after the first edition was launched to mark the company’s tenth anniversary. Reflecting the company’s expansion over the past two years, the publication’s content has increased by a third to 80 pages. It features descriptions of 73 projects across a diverse spectrum of sectors, including cultural, heritage, commercial, education, public realm and housing. All designs are bespoke and innovative, integrating the very latest advances in environmental engineering. A useful new addition for 2019 is a glossary of M&E terms.

Newly-completed projects include the exemplary Cambridge Central Mosque (Marks Barfield Architects), where the striking timber construction keeps embodied energy very low; the 2019 RIBA National Award-winning Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre (Haworth Tompkins) at The Perse School, Cambridge; and the first phase of the 2019 AJ Retrofit Award-winning Green House for Ethical Property Company in east London.

Set in a hillside with no gas or drainage, the highly-sustainable Weston visitor centre (Feilden Fowles) at Yorkshire Sculpture Park is a 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize finalist.

Skelly & Couch was founded in 2007 and is run by Directors Mark Skelly, Tristan Couch, Mark Maidment, Stephen White and Stephanie Skelly. The design-led practice has grown steadily over the past ten years through mainly repeat business, and now employs 40 people. It has won nearly 500 commissions over the past 12 years.

As a leader in its field, Skelly & Couch supports the design and construction of sustainable buildings which not only use less energy, but perform environmentally and socially; meet the brief in terms of aspiration and cost; are capable of being efficiently maintained and operated; and have the flexibility to stand the test of time for future generations.

Skelly & Couch is a member of the ‘UK Building Services Engineers Declare Climate & Biodiversity Emergency’ group whose core principles align with what we practise every day.

The firm has achieved ISO 9001 accreditation and ISO 14001 certification for environmental management.
