Ben received a BEng (Hons) from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in Mechanical Engineering in 1997. He started working for Max Fordham Consulting Engineers in 1999 and became a partner in 2003, and on leaving Max Fordham worked on a freelance basis, before joining Skelly & Couch in 2009. He has developed a specialism in the delivery of projects on site.

Ben worked on the 2014 RIBA London Award-winning new performing arts centre for Lady Eleanor Holles School, Chichester Festival Theatre and several other notable projects, including a new plant quarantine house and CHP energy centre at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.

Past projects include St John’s School Leatherhead, two new and two refurbished primary schools for the London Borough of Havering, a new secondary school for Waingels College, a new education building for the Horniman Museum, a refurbishment and extension project of the Mansel Court office building for the Low Carbon Workplace, a refurbishment project for Westminster Under School, and the new Bridge Theatre.

Ben has also worked on an environmental and services review for The Royal Albert Hall, a £160m prestigious office development in Manchester, a £110m refurbishment of the Royal Festival Hall and Regent’s Park Community Pavilion. Current projects include the refurbishment and extension of the Grade II listed Farmiloe building in Islington, the infrastructure works at RHS Wisley and a permitted development project in Archway named Hill House.
