Kieran Johnson

Kieran is a collaborative engineer specialising in sustainable design and energy modelling, delivering client-focused solutions in commercial, residential and healthcare sectors.
Kieran graduated from the University of Bristol with a First-class master's degree in environmental Geoscience. He began his career as a Research Assistant, developing predictive numerical models for natural hazard early-warning systems. Since joining Skelly & Couch in 2021, he has worked across diverse sectors including commercial, residential, private housing, education, and healthcare.
Kieran delivers innovative MEP solutions with a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. He recently led stage 2 and 3 for Alkerden Hub— a low-energy, mixed-use community building featuring specialist designs for NHS facilities, performance venues, and café spaces. Proficient in energy modelling using IESVE, he has developed energy strategies for significant projects like Kings Place – student accommodation in Southwark which successfully gained GLA-compliant planning approval.
His expertise also include large-scale refurbishments, such as the Grade II listed Mountbatten House retrofit (BREEAM Outstanding) and Zodiac House’s commercial-to-residential conversion.
Kieran is passionate about renewable technologies and has integrated them into notable projects such as Brighton College and Breckey Ley - a sustainable family home featuring ground source and exhaust air heat pumps, solar PVs, and battery storage.
Kieran is a CIBSE member committed to continuous professional development, actively engaging in CPDs and industry events. He also contributes to the knowledge management team at Skelly & Couch.
