Graduate Engineers

There are exciting opportunities for Graduate Engineers to join an award-winning, highly successful and expanding consultancy firm in London on a permanent basis.

Skelly & Couch was established in 2007 by two former partners of Max Fordham LLP and has grown steadily to become a practice of 40 staff, securing and delivering a broad range of award-winning, high profile projects with leading architects and clients. The practice specialises in providing bespoke, innovative and sustainable engineering solutions to projects with construction values ranging from £1m to £30m, and has an unrivalled reputation for high quality. It is now looking to start its next period of growth and is seeking ambitious and capable individuals who want to broaden their horizons and develop their career.

Typical examples of Skelly & Couch projects include:

• A range of projects for clients such as Chatham Historic Dockyards, The Horniman Museum and Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, including new quarantine and glasshouse facilities and CHP energy stations
• The redevelopment of the Grade II*-listed Chichester Festival Theatre
• A number of low carbon workplace developments
• A new Art Gallery in Hastings
• Specialist Music, Performance Spaces and Energy Masterplans for a range of large schools, including Bedales, Lady Eleanor Holles, Brighton College and King’s Canterbury.
• A New Mosque in Cambridge
• A number of exemplar education projects with complex environmental requirements, including a new academy for deaf children in Exeter and a learning centre for a mental health charity in South London.

Skelly & Couch, which became a limited company in April 2014, is of a size and ethos which allow high-calibre graduate engineers to be exposed to projects and their complexities very quickly, encouraging fast, on-the job learning. Multi-disciplinary activities and responsibilities are assigned by senior staff until new recruits can demonstrate competency and the technical skills and experience required to meet the company’s high standards.

Candidates who apply for this role will need to be:

• Self-starters who are capable of articulating verbally and non-verbally in a technical and professional manner.
• Degree qualified, having completed an engineering or science degree. However, candidates who have reached HND level and can demonstrate the required skills will also be considered.
