Paradise Gardens

Paradise Gardens is a multi-award-winning sheltered residential development consisting of six family homes surrounded by communal landscape gardens, at the heart of Ravenscourt Village in Hammersmith. The development transformed a former constricted, derelict yard, which is visible from all sides by neighbours, and lies within Starch Green conservation area next to Ravenscourt Park.

Skelly & Couch provided the appropriate environmental and building performance strategies to best deliver a highly sustainable design solution, including thermal modelling and daylight studies. These produced a high specification build with both external and internal exquisite detail. The houses have cobbled courtyards and are spaced well enough to allow interiors to be plentifully filled with natural light, and the layout also encourages various adaptations and uses for the future.

As a 2017 National RIBA Award winner and Housing Project of the Year in the inaugural AJ Architecture Awards 2017, Paradise Gardens’ high standard of build is set to provide a benchmark for similar developments in the capital and across the UK.

Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands was also named AJ Architect of the Year, in most part for Paradise Gardens, a Private Rented Sector (PRS) scheme which devotes a high degree of consideration to post-occupancy issues such as maintenance.
